We are learning about time and tempreture. I would like to learn more about...I would like to learn more abouttime differences. Daniel - we'll be looking at these more this week. Mrs. Breeds.
15 March 2010
Today we have learned how to calculate flight paths and time from new zealand.
I found this quite challengeing at first but I got the hang of it by the end of the lesson. And i did have an AH HA moment. Which was? You need to explain how time zones work, how they are calculated, and to give an example from your learning.
I enjoyed this work today. 19/03/10 Walt exchange rates for currency. Not really though - in countries where you appear to get millions of dollars, you wil find that lunch will cost a lot more!
I learned that if you go to some countries you can be a millionaire with just a thousand so you can profit a lot. 24/03/10 Walt use algebraic thinking to solve decimal subtraction problems. I learned a new strategy for doing decimal subtractions and i now find it really easy to do them. Daniel I am pleased that you learnt the new strategy today and that it makes it easier for you to solve decimal subtraction problems. TC 29/03/10 W.A.L.T Use tempreture as a strategy to help us add and subtract integers.
I learned that when you add or subtract tempreture it makes it eisier to under stand how to do negative and positive problems. 31/03/10
W.A.L.T add dont subtract when working on decimal subtraction problems.
Today learned a new strategy when you change a subtraction problem to a addition problem but i still prefer to use the other strategy to this one
but i will probly still use it occasionally
19/04/10
WALT:we are learning to use a number of different problem solving strategies to solve complex problems.
Today I have learned a couple of new strategies for problem solving like looking for patterns, drawing diagrams, make a list or chart etc... i learned better ways to do fraction problems and am happy with my work. Good to hear this Daniel. What were the strategies that you felt comfortable with using? It is important that you can choose the right strategy for the problem you are dealing with. i am comfortable with using guess and check and i dont know what other ones i use.
21/04/10
WALT find out what we know, what we think we know, and what we dont know. Ihave found that i dont know lots about staistics but i still do know a bit my goal is to learn at least 5 new strategies over the next 6 weeks. I don't think you mean strategies but types of graphs.
27/04/10
Walt be able to use a variety of different graphs to show different data.
I have learned to do different graphs like histograms, scater plots, back to back dot plotsand revision on stem and leaf graphs. Are you confident that you can choose the appropriate graph for the set of data that you are using.
I think so im not really confident though. What can we do to help this Daniel? Is there something we can practice/review?
5/05/10
Today I learned how to do a box and whisker graph. I am confident on how to do them now. Are you also confident in interpreting what they are trying to show you and to talk about range - interquartile range, median etc?
yes i am
27/05/10
Today with my otago problem solving challenge i got 4/5 this was i didnt know how to do the last one.
I am not good with working out the area of things when just given a little bit of information. But overall i think i did pretty good because last time i got 2/5. This is a big improvement Daniel and one that you can be very proud of. My challenge to you is to get these journals completed on a more regular basis and for them to give us and insight into your thinking - your challenges and successes.
31/05/10
I need to practise with some basic facts and place value.
I need to improve on working on woking out the area of things because that is what keeps me from getting good marks on my problem solving challenges. A very good observation. Daniel these things are core to being able to work with more complex fractions and decimals. How are you going to improve your knowledge in these areas?
